Charismatic Leadership Theory

Although charismatic leadership has existed for at least a century, the contemporary notion of charismatic leadership was developed in the 1970s with an academic emphasis on a leader's self-evaluation. In other words, each leader was asked to evaluate the qualities and behaviors that they personally hold out as essential to charisma. As a result, leaders who believed they had something in common, such as confidence or superior communication abilities, were identified. The charismatic leader profile eventually included these characteristics.

Over the following two decades, this idea was further developed to concentrate on how these leaders affect their followers or team members. When a group of people emotionally reacted favourably to a leader's suggestions.

A charismatic leader is someone who attracts followers with their personality and manner of speaking. They typically have good communication skills, emotional sensitivity, a strong emphasis on social connections, and the ability to retain emotional control in a variety of settings that could otherwise result in tension or unsettling feelings. They will be using their charismatic power to increase the engagement of employees and compete in their business scope.

    1. Thank you for the comment Ms. Madusha. As I stated everything has both sides. It Soley depends on how we maximize the positives and find ways to minimize the negatives. Sometimes being too charismatic can bring risks to our plate. There are instances like issues in the feedback loop and unsustainable growth. We always need to be vigilant to maintain the balance no matter what leadership approach we use. People are dynamic and unpredictable, and we need to use our leadership approach accordingly.

An organization's management and leadership should invest in employee engagement and worker well-being as they produce a long-term return on investment and business sustainability that provides an enjoyable, healthy, and positive work environment where employees are happy to report to work and not just to laze around counting down to the very much-anticipated vacation.
